There is no substitute for Irans imported gas to Iraq

Iraqs domestic production is not responsible for supplying power stations and because of this; there is no alternative to Iranian gas.

Iraq"s domestic production is not responsible for supplying power stations and because of this; there is no alternative to Iranian gas.
Iraqi oil ministry spokesman Assim Jihad in a conversation with local Kurdish networks in Iraqi Kurdistan said: There are currently no substitutes for Iran"s natural gas; Because Iran is the closest country to Iraq, so we can get gas, Iran’s IRNA news agency reported.
He added that Iraq imports about 600 million cubic meters of gas from Iran, which is used to generate electricity.
Iraqi oil ministry spokesman emphasized: Iraq cannot provide any neighboring countries of this amount of gas and replace the imported gas from Iran.
Jihad stated: The ministry is trying to increase domestic production, but at least three years are needed for Iraq to reach this level.
According to IRNA, Dr. Hassan Rouhani, on Saturday (November 26th), informed about the gas cooperation between two countries at a news conference with President Barham Saleh, Iraqi president and said: We talked about relations and the exchange of electricity, gas, petroleum products, as well as the activities of the two countries in the field of oil exploration and extraction, and the railway connection between the two countries from the west and south.
Meanwhile, America, in line with their unilateral sanctions against Iran, have pushed Iraq to cut its imports of gas and electricity from Iran.
Along with importing 600 million cubic meters of gas from Iran, the Iraqi government also imports 1,300 megawatts of electricity from this country.
