The 24th world gas conference was held on October 5-9 2009 , concluding the Argentina presidency of IGU during 2006-2009 triennium . 75 countries are the members of IGU .

According to public relation of NIGC , in the inauguration ceremony of this conference which was held by the presence of Argentina president and some of the senior officials , social specialized prize went to Mr.Mohammad Rezaee , researcher of Mazandaran province gas company. The prize was given as the methods of optimizing natural gas consumption . The other prize went to one of the delegates of Bosch Thermotechnik company from Germany .

During this four day conference about 500 articles was presented and Iran got the second place after Russia in ranking of natural gas article publishing .

natural gas exhibition will be held and the presence of NIGC by arranging a room with the area of 440 square meter is considerable.

Holding eleven professional roundtable about important subjects of natural gas industry which mainly related to cyclic activities of IGU world group is another program of the conference . At the end of the conference periodical presidency of IGU transfered from Argentina to Malaysia,and the 25th world gas conference will be held in Kuala Lumpur.
